Detion Docs

Security and custody

Detion is non-custodial. Here is what it asks of your wallet, what it never does and what is stored on your device.

On this page

Detion is built so that using it cannot move your funds. It has no way to send a transaction on your behalf, and it holds no keys.

What Detion does with your wallet#

ActionDetion asks your wallet to…
ConnectShare your public address and current network.
Link a trading accountSign a short message that contains only a timestamp.
TradeNothing. Orders are signed in the trading app, not in Detion.

What Detion never does#

  • It never asks for your seed phrase or private key. No legitimate site does.
  • It never sends a transaction or asks you to approve a token allowance.
  • It never asks you to sign typed data to connect or link.
  • It never places, cancels or edits an order.
  • It has no server that stores your address, balances or positions. Detion is a static web app.

Read-only account sessions#

Linking opens a session that can read your account. It cannot trade. It exists only while the page is open and it ends when you unlink, disconnect your wallet or close the tab. Read the steps on Link your trading account.

What is stored on your device#

Detion keeps these items in your browser's local storage, and nothing else:

ItemWhy
Display settings and chain columnsSo the terminal looks the way you left it.
Sidebar and notice stateSo panels you collapsed or dismissed stay that way.
The last wallet you connectedSo it can reconnect without a popup.
The last trading account address you linkedSo the link dialog can pre-fill it.

Clear your browser's site data to remove all of it.

Third-party resources#

The site loads fonts from third-party font services and the terminal connects to the market data feed. Your browser makes those requests directly, so those services can see your IP address as they would for any website. Your wallet extension is your wallet's own software and is not controlled by Detion.

Good habits#

  • Check the address bar before you connect a wallet.
  • Bookmark the site instead of following links from messages.
  • Use a wallet you trust and keep its software up to date.
  • Only trade in the trading app after you have checked the contract, size and price shown there.
